Who we are

Hamurwa Needy Children ICT Centre is a subsidiary project of Hamurwa Needy Children Project (HNCP).

Background

Hamurwa Needy Children ICT centre is located at Hamurwa Town council Kabale district.

 

There are 210 needy children in the  project and 104 of them are orphans and others are needy.

The primary goal of the project is to cater for the educational needs of the needy children. Most of them are orphaned, abandoned/neglected, while others are unable to surviveon their own despite having relatives they stay with.


Promoters of Hamurwa Needy Children ICT centre and project are people with high caliber and theyare people with developed minds. The idea of establishing the ICT Centrewas to upright the needy children and orphans so as to make them grow scientifically oriented.

 

The project has an executive board comprised of 5 members chaired by  Mr Christopher Buhazi.


Board members and promoters have well tested skills in fields of child care, education and social administration.


The promoters of the school who are founders, came up with a common idea, and identified communities in their respective areas and examined  their needsand problemsthat are related to education  improvement caused by lack of enough schools, cultural problems and lack of income generating activitieswhichwill in turn bea source of school fees. It is because of having many children failing to go to primary school and secondary or institutional school.


ICT Centre and the primary school in the project is set to cater for them.

The board has decided to set up the spirit of catering for needy children and orphans and ensure they grow up scientificly oriented and technologically up right.

 

The project serves pupils basically from Hamurwa Community and other neighboring areas with  particular consideration  of orphan and other needy ones including those from neighboring districts i.e. Kisoro district, Kanungu district, Rukungiri District…

Strength of HNC ICT Centre:

 

Big catchments area, there fore big enrolment.

Good place of worship (the centre being near the church).

Strategically positioned (near Gomborola Headquarters and health centre).

Easy Communication (near the road).

Good neighbourhood (friendly neighbours).


Weaknesses:

Parents are poor.

Low motivation for teachers and instructors.

Pupils don’t have accommodation.

Late coming by some of the pupils.

Lack of food to feed the children.

 

Oportunities:

Qualified teachers and instructors.

Near by security (sub county head quarters and health centre).

Accessibility to means of transport:

Spiritual environment (church nearby).


Threats:

Lack of enough infrastructure.
Lack of funding from the government and donors.

Sources of funding

Surfing on the ICT Centre computers, this will be done in time where children are not studying like weekends and evening time. The revenues will be used to pay the teachers and instructors.

Drama and entertainment contributions.

Donations from friends and well-wishers.

Subsidiary of the project

Given the opportunities and strengths of the ICT centre, the project expects to utilize recourses and ensure t he satiability of the project so that the future and current generations are able to benefit from the same program continuously.

Monitoring & Evaluation

Monitoring and evaluation of the project willbe the responsibility of the HNCP who is involved on part time basis. This exercise will be continuous from the project director, teachers and instructors as well as stake holders. Monitoring and evaluation will focus on the objectives and mission statement indicated above.
